Summer Craft Beer Fest 2015
July has finally seen hot weather in Toronto, and that means it’s time to drink beer outside! And one thing has become apparent pretty quickly – Liberty Villagers love craft beer! In the last year we’ve seen the arrival of both The Local, and The Craft, with Big Rock and 3 Brewers next up, spoiling us for choice when it comes to watering holes. But with summer finally upon us the last thing we want to do is sit at a bar when we could be out in the sun. Enter the Summer Craft Beer Fest!
Liberty Village is a small neighbourhood with a big reputation. Known for traffic snarls and condo overgrowth, it can get a pretty bad rap. But I happen to live and work in LV, and love it here. What used to be industrial and mechanical has now become bustling and happening. And the Liberty Village’s Market Building is a great venue for outdoor events.
Most of the city’s favourite brews were present…
…and some from further a field.
There were almost 20 participating breweries and so no cups went empty. Half a glass was $1, while $2 got you a full pour. The vendors were well-stocked and lines were short.
Visitors also had a chance to extend their adventure by purchasing a Craft Beer Passport.
It’s not a festival without food and entertainment, and we were treated to both. Music, and a mime show by Kate Mior.
All in all it was a fantastic way to wind down after work, to share some beer with neighbours. It was also a taste adventure and one that I can’t wait to repeat next year.
