Event: Restaurants For Change – October 22nd 2014
Regardless of other interests, food is one thing that always brings people together. Toronto’s vibrant restaurant scene attests to that. With Thanksgiving past and Christmas around the corner, it’s time however to think of those that can’t necessarily count on when their next meal is coming. And it’s time to do your part.
Restaurants For Change is a simple idea with a big impact. On one night, across 9 cities, in 25 restaurants, chefs and patrons can give back to their communities just by having dinner. Dine out at one of the participating venues and a portion of your meal cost will go to support Community Food Centres Canada. Your contribution will go toward stocking shelves, supporting health and wellness programs, and building new centres where they may desperately be needed.
Supported by not only chefs, but also best food personalities and suppliers, as James Chatto works alongside Community Food Centers Canada CEO Nick Saul to help bring awareness not only in Toronto, but nationwide. Kitchen equiptment company Garland Canada offered a 5,000 prize to one of of the participating restaurants, alongside its own donation.
Toronto’s chefs are an incredibly supportive bunch, so it’s no surprise that when the King St Food Company was asked to participate, they said yes before the request was even finished. As a lead-up promo event, The Saint Tavern graciously hosted the media night. We sampled a marvellous preview of some of their top dishes, whetting our appetites for a deliciously charitable evening.
